2 Nemacolin Woodlands Miniature Golf Nemacolin Woodlands Miniature Golf, Farmington, PA - Probably the prettiest, nicest miniature golf course in the country. The course is located at the Nemacolin resort in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The resort features the Mystic Rock course, home of the 84 Lumber Golf Classic. Pro golfer, John Daly is the sponsored tour pro. I visited the area in July 2003. We did not have a chance to play the course because John Daly was conducting an 'outing' the day we had available to play Mystic Rock. Photo: 2610 1280x960

3 Mount Rushmore - September 2003 Mount Rushmore - Keystone, South Dakota - Mount Rushmore memorializes the birth, growth, preservation and development of the United States of America. Between 1927 and 1941, Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted the 60-foot busts of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln to represent the first 150 years of American history. It had snowed [in September 2003] the night before I visited causing the sky to be very clear. The most downloaded photo from this site. Photo: 3404 1280x960

9 Putting Course - Outdoor Resorts - Las Vegas - November 2004 Putting Course, LVM Resorts - Las Vegas - I stayed at this RV Resort during November 2004. There is a very pretty 9 hole, putting course near the clubhouse. It is a fun course. The residents have a 'tournament' every Friday. Teams are assigned by committee. Usually 2 men and 2 women on each team. I was fortunate, on the only Friday I was able to play, to be on the winning team. We each put in $3 and got back $7. Everyone gets a free beer. The resort's name changed from Outdoor Resorts to Signature Resorts and now to LVM Resort. I played the course again in early December 2010. Unfortunately the water feature is now turned off. The resort is having some financial difficulties. Photo: 4915 1280x960

28 Par 3, 15th Hole, Palmer Course at PGA West - I had a chance to play the Palmer Course at PGA West in La Quinta, CA on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014. This 15th hole borders the Santa Rosa Mountains on the right and the aqueduct on the left. It ranges in length from 156 to 103 yards. We were playing the 120 yard white tees. The rocks are especially colorful. Big Horn Sheep can often be seen near the hole and in the nearby mountains. I managed to birdie the hole - about the only highlight of my round. I played with Marty Krasnov, Sandy Green and Bruce Klink. Photo: 3084 1255x760

Overview - During the summers of 1999 thru 2015 I have toured the United States and Canada. Along the way I have taken lots of pictures. I think some are pretty good. And I am using some as my desktop's wallpaper. I thought I would share the pictures. I use 'TopDesk', available from 'SnadBoy', to hide desktop icons. TopDesk hides all icons when the start bar's 'show desktop' icon is clicked. In the spring of 2004 I became a full-time RVer. Click here to see photos of my home.

Equipment - The pictures were taken at high resolution [1280 x 1024 and 1280 x 960] in high color [16 million colors]. I converted most to 256 colors to reduce their size. Until August 2001 I used a Fuji MX-700, 1.5 mega pixel digital camera with a 16 MB smart card which will store 45 high resolution pictures.

In August 2001 I purchased the 'upgrade' camera - Fuji 6800 Zoom. It is a 3.3 mega pixel camera with zoom. It also records video and audio. Full size pictures are recorded at 1280 x 960 - a standard Windows size. I use Corel Photo House and Microsoft Photo Editor to edit the pictures.

In June 2005 I purchased a Fuji A330 which is about the same quality camera as the 6800 and at a lot less cost. I bought a 512 MB Smartcard on eBay for about $50. Total cost under $200. I had paid over $900 for the 6800.

In October 2006 I purchased a FujiFilm FinePix F20 and a 512 MB mini card for about $250. It is much faster than the A330.

Nikon Coolpix S60 - Clilck to EnlargeIn October 2008 I purchased a Nikon Coolpix S60 from Costco for about $350. It has a touch screen. There are no option buttons. They are all on the touch screen. It came with a 2 GB SanDisk mini card. Click here for more information about the camera. Click here or on the photo of the camera to enlarge it.

November 2008 I returned the Nikon Coolpix S60 to Costco. I had lots of Lens Error failures. I don't think the camera is ready for primetime. I will wait till the next generation version comes out. It does take great photos but it is unreliable - too bad. I have gone back to using the Fuji FinePix F20.

November 2008 I purchased a FujiFilm FinePix F31 with a 1 GB mini card for about $350 on eBay. It is the upgrade to the F20/F30. It has facial recognition. It takes a much better picture than the F20. I talked to a Fuji customer support person who advised me that it is the last camera made by them that allows the battery to be charged in the camera. As of June 2011 I have taken more than 9,000 photos with this camera. Highly recommended.

July 2011 I purchased a silver FujiFilm FinePix JX300 camera with a 4 GB mini card for about $140 at ShopKo in Eugene, OR. It is an upgrade to the F31. It is smaller. It automatically recognizes portrait and landscape mode. It can be set to take the photo when a person smiles. It warns if a person 'blinked. It takes panoramic [wide screen] photos. And at this price it is an amazing bargain. Click here to view more information about the camera.

February 2013 I purchased a black FujiFilm XF1 camera for about $340 on eBay. It retails for about $500. I added a 16 GB SD card for about $15. It takes a remarkable picture. I am now exclusively using this camera. I especially like the way it takes panoramic photos in 120, 180 and 360 degree modes. I mostly use the 120 degree mode. Click here to view details.

October 2014 - I dropped the FujiFilm XF1 camera and the exposure is no longer being set properly. I sent the camera to the Fuji repair center in New Jersey. Hopefully they will be able to repair it. I am back to using the FujiFilm FinePix JX300.

November 2014 - The FujiFilm XF1 was replaced by the Fuji repair center. Cost $170.

October 2015 - The FujiFilm XF1 was repaired by the Fuji repair center. Cost $130. The light sensor was failing and all the photos were almost white.

June 2014 - I bought a DJI Phantom 1 Quadcopter with a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition camera on eBay for about $800. I have started taking aerial photos of the RV parks I am invested in. I am taking high resolution photos using the GoPro's continuous picture taking feature. I have it set to take a photo every 2 seconds. I took the photos below of the Premier RV Resort in Lincoln City, Oregon. I am standing almost in the middle of the left photo while operating the camera perched high above the resort. It is an amazing machine.
October 2015 - I sold the Quadcopter to Ken Mundee in Paso Robles, CA. He plans to use it to take aerial photos of some of the real estate he and his brother own.

April 2015 - I bought an iPhone 6 on eBay for $590. I took it to the local Verizon store in La Quinta, CA to have it setup. I have started taking photos with it. This photo of an iPhone 6 was downloaded from Google using Image Search.

December 2015 - I am now using the iPhone exclusively. I stopped using my old phone and transferred it's number to the iPhone. It was changed at the Verizon store in La Quinta, CA.

December 2015 - I bought a Samsung Galaxy A3 smartphone at the Costco in La Quinta, CA. Cost $6 per month for the phone for 2 years and $20 per month for the extra Verizon service. Costco was offering a $200 rebate which I received as a card after mailing in the paperwork. A pretty good deal.

Download - You can download any of the photos and use them for your PC's desktop wallpaper. I have resized the pictures to fit various screen resolutions. Click on the appropriate 'nnnnxnnnn' to download the desired photo and resolution. If you need instructions on how to change your desktop wallpaper click here. On January 25, 2003,  I added resolution 1280x768 to support wide screen monitors. On December 10, 2003 I removed the 800x600 and 640x480 resolution photos - they were not being downloaded very often and were taking a lot of server disk space.
