Tuesday, October 10 - I played golf with Mike Cox at Contra Costa CC today. Before we teed off we meet briefly with his wife Julie. It was a nice day but a bit smoky. Mike was a long time member of Green Hills CC in Millbrae - where I was also a long time member - that is where I meet him.

Monday, October 2 - Back in Novato at the Novato RV Park in space 141 for a couple weeks. Elevation - sea level. Visiting my kids/grandkids. It was a long drive on I-5 from Redding - just over 200 miles. And the Novato park is pricy - $540 per week - $1,080 for the two weeks - ouch.
Thursday, September 28 - Rich and Jan Kissner, managers of Premier RV Resort Redding, CA, invited me to a ribs dinner. Rich makes great barbeque ribs. They were outstanding. Thanks Rich and Jan.

Sunday, September 24 - At 1:30 today the local Rotary Club held the 28th annual Ducky Derby. They sell a rubber ducky for $5 and they sold more than 34,000 of them. They were dropped from a bridge on the Sacramento River and travel about 1/4 mile down stream. The first 4 winners get a prize. I bought 4 ducks from Steve and Ron. Click here to view a short YouTube video of last year's derby. According to the Record Searchlight - local newspaper - Kyle Hatch of Fair Oaks took first place and won a houseboat vacation on Lake Shasta and a $500 gift card. Other winners: 2nd: Andy Givens, 3rd: Jane Templeton, 4th: Kathy Llorce. To view the local TV stations results click here.

Wednesday, September 20 - Today was a long drive of 130 miles on I-5 through southern Oregon then over the Siskiyou Mountains [4300 feet] to Yreka, CA.  I have stayed a number of times at the Yreka RV Park. In space E4, elevation 2,661 feet. Will be here for two days.
Coming down I-5 from the mountains there is a vista point about 4 miles north of Yreka.
Today there were high clouds covering the Shasta Valley.
Mount Shasta is off to the left but covered with clouds.
A Google Earth View of I-5 heading south showing the vista point.
Show capped Mount Shasta is visible in the left portion of the photo.
